Additional information

Sariakes ruled during a period when Skythian dynasts in the northwestern Pontic region were navigating increasing pressure from both the expanding Sarmatian tribes to the east and the ambitions of Pontic kings to the west. His bronze coinage is among the earliest securely attributable to a named Skythian king, which makes the series numismatically significant well beyond its modest size and metal.

The Stancomb references cover only two varieties, suggesting a short or localized production run.
