Obverse description Barbarous imitation struck in the name of Emperor Valens (364–378 AD), featuring a right-facing diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust rendered in a crude provincial style. The portrait retains the general characteristics of late Roman imperial coinage, including the diadem with pearl decoration and layered drapery over the cuirass, though executed with the stylistic degeneration typical of Germanic imitative issues. The legend, partially legible, reads D N NAHD - IPF[…], a barbarous corruption of the standard Valentinianic formula D N VALENS PERPETVVS AVG. The overall workmanship reflects a non-Roman die-cutter imitating official Roman bronze coinage of the late 4th to early 5th century.
