Reverse description A Macedonian bow-in-case (gorytos) shown horizontally across the upper field, surmounted by a club above; the Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs horizontally across the central field in two lines flanking the devices. Below the legend, a club is depicted horizontally, and beneath it a thunderbolt symbol appears in the lower field. The reverse devices — bow-case, club, and thunderbolt — are emblems closely associated with Heracles and the Macedonian royal house, rendered in crisp relief typical of early Amphipolis bronzes.
