Obverse description Bare head of Herakles facing left (or right on certain dies), clad in the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forelegs knotted at the throat. The modeling is rendered in a bold, archaic-transitional style characteristic of early Macedonian bronze coinage, with deeply cut facial features and naturalistic treatment of the lion pelt. No legend or inscription appears in the field.
