Reverse description Forepart of a bull — head and neck — facing right in high relief, the animal's musculature rendered with characteristic early Hellenistic vigor. Above the bull's head, a large Greek letter Alpha (Α) occupies the upper field as a control mark or civic initial. Along the lower exergual area, the partial ethnic legend ΠΕΡΓΑ identifies the issuing city of Pergamon. To the left, what appears to be a torch or uncertain device may be present in the field.
