| Obverse description | Forepart of a war galley (trireme) depicted in profile to the right, with the characteristic ram (embolon) projecting at the bow and the upper strake and oar-box rendered in relief. The design occupies the central field against a plain ground, conveying the maritime identity and naval prominence of the city of Elaeus on the Thracian Chersonese. The fabric is irregular and the flan shows typical characteristics of fourth-century Thracian bronze coinage. |
