| Reverse description | Uniface issue with a plain, featureless reverse displaying no intentional design or legend. The surface shows the natural texture of the hammered copper flan, with incidental tool marks and surface irregularities consistent with the crude striking technique employed during this period of political instability in Kashmir. No inscription, symbol, or decorative element is present, confirming the uniface nature of this emission. |

| Additional information |
Mihirakula, whose name appears on earlier issues as a conqueror celebrated in his own inscriptions, was driven out of the Gangetic plain by a coalition of Indian rulers — most notably Yaśodharman of Malwa — sometime around 528 CE. He retreated north into Kashmir, where he seized the throne and ruled with a brutality that Buddhist sources record in unusual detail, including the destruction of monasteries and the slaughter of monks. The Jayatu issues and their successors belong to that turbulent aftermath, struck by a collapsing dynasty clinging to a reduced territory.
