Reverse description Two raised horizontal lines traverse the lower portion of the field, dividing the flan horizontally. Above the lines, a Telugu or Tamil script inscription is struck in relief, the characters rendered in a bold but somewhat irregular fashion consistent with hammered coinage of the period. The overall design is simple and utilitarian, characteristic of early East India Company copper cash issues for the Madras Presidency.
