Obverse description Central field dominated by bold Arabic calligraphic legend in nasta'liq-influenced script, reading 'ya saheb al-zaman' (O Lord of Time), a Shi'a invocation to the Hidden Imam. The inscription is arranged within a lobate cartouche framed by an elaborate interlaced vine-and-dot border encircling the entire coin. The hammered flan exhibits irregular edges characteristic of hand-struck Caucasian khanate coinage of the late 18th century. The relief is high and robust, with the individual letter strokes boldly rendered against a flat field.
