Obverse description Struck in the nastaliq script tradition, the obverse field is divided horizontally by a single raised line into two registers, each bearing multiple lines of Persian poetic legend. The upper register contains the opening lines of the royal mint verse, and the lower register carries the continuation of the inscription naming the just king Suleiman II. The lettering is rendered in bold, deeply struck nastaliq calligraphy characteristic of late Safavid hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, consistent with hand-struck production of the period. The AH date 1163 appears as part of the continuous verse legend.
