| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a bold Nasta'liq calligraphic legend arranged in a cartouche-like panel, reading the pious phrase 'al-khayr fima waqa'a' (goodness lies in what has come to pass), with the mint name Esfahan (Isfahan) and the AH date 1148 inscribed below in Eastern Arabic numerals. The entire design is enclosed within a double border consisting of an inner fine line and an outer row of raised pellets (beading), characteristic of early Afsharid coinage. The field surrounding the central text panel is flat and unadorned, lending emphasis to the calligraphic inscription. |
