Obverse description Central field dominated by a densely interlaced Arabic calligraphic inscription set within an elaborate lobed and pointed cartouche of floral-arabesque style, characteristic of Zand-period die-cutting. The invocation 'Ya Karim' (یا کریم) appears prominently at the apex of the cartouche, with the mint name Dar al-Ibada Yazd and the regnal year 1181 AH inscribed within and around the central motif. The entire design is enclosed by a fine inner border of raised dots forming a continuous beaded circle, with a plain outer rim. The overall style reflects the refined nasta'liq and thuluth calligraphic traditions employed on Iranian hammered silver coinage of the 18th century.
