| Reverse description | The reverse presents a multi-line Persian verse legend in elegant nastaliq script, arranged in four horizontal registers divided by ruled lines and enclosed within a beaded border. The legend proclaims the royal titulature of Abbas III, identifying him as 'Sahib-Qiran' (Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction) and 'Zill-i Haqq' (Shadow of God on Earth), and credits divine providence for the striking of the coin. The mint name Maragheh and the AH date 1146 appear in the lowest register. The deeply incised script shows the characteristic flowing, cursive quality of Safavid nastaliq die-cutting, with trefoil ornaments used as word separators throughout. |
