| Obverse description | The obverse displays the draped and armored bust of King Charles IV of Spain facing right, struck on the host Spanish colonial 8 Reales coin. Superimposed upon the bust is the Brazilian counterstamp: an oval cartouche surmounted by a royal crown, enclosing the denomination '960' above the mint letter 'C' (for Cuiabá) and assayer initial, all within a wreath of laurel and oak branches. The circular legend of the host coin reads CAROLUS IIII DEI GRATIA around the periphery, with the date 1804 positioned in the lower exergue. |
