| Obverse description | The entire field within a raised inner circle is occupied by six large Chinese characters rendered in an informal cursive script style, reading 湖大清 / 南銀行 (Hunan Branch of the Ta-Ching [Imperial] Bank). The characters are boldly incuse-struck in relief against a plain, unadorned field. The border consists of a continuous ring of small raised pellets or beads running along the full circumference between the inner circle and the raised outer rim, serving as the sole decorative element of the design. |
