Obverse description Left-facing veiled and crowned effigy of Queen Victoria in her 'Old Head' or 'Widow's Head' portrait, wearing a small crown atop a flowing veil and a pearl necklace, with a draped bust. The circular legend reads VICTORIA·DEI·GRA·BRITT·REG·FID·DEF·IND·IMP·, with the engraver's initials 'De S.' appearing in small characters at the base of the truncation.

Reverse description Central shield bearing a passant rampant lion, surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by a decorative ribbon banner inscribed CYPRUS. The date 1901 is divided across the lower field of the shield, with 19 to the left and 01 to the right. The denomination legend NINE PIASTRES appears in two lines around the lower portion of the coin, separated from the central design by a ring of small beads.
