| Comments |
Riksens Ständers Wäxel-Banco — the forerunner of the Riksbank — issued this denomination during a period of acute monetary stress in Sweden. The banco had been printing notes well beyond its copper specie reserves since the 1730s, a policy driven largely by Hat Party political pressure to fund mercantilist expansion. By the mid-1740s the disconnect between circulating paper and actual kopparmynt backing had become indefensible.
The ink stamp served as the primary authentication measure — a vulnerability that contributed to a wave of forgeries during this series.
