Obverse description Host coin obverse of a Spanish Colonial Mexico 8 Reales (KM#106 or KM#109), featuring the draped and armored bust of King Charles IV facing right, set within a beaded circle. The field bears the Latin legend denoting royal title and grace of God. A crowned 'G' counterstamp, applied by the British colonial administration of Guadeloupe, appears prominently in the field. A crenated square hole has been cut through the coin as an additional countermark measure. The overall strike reflects the milled production of the Mexico City Mint.
