Issued to mark the 70th anniversary of Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession — the longest reign of any monarch in Thai history — this commemorative was released just months before his death in October 2016. It was almost certainly in production while the king's health was already in serious decline, making the celebratory occasion quietly elegiac in retrospect.
