Additional information

Issued to mark the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which made Beijing the first city to host both a Summer and Winter Games — the Summer having been held there in 2008. The People's Bank of China produced multiple tiers of commemorative issues for the event, with this five-gram gold piece sitting at the lower end of the bullion-commemorative range, a denomination structure Beijing has used consistently since the 1980 Lake Placid series inaugurated China's Olympic coinage program.
