Reverse description The reverse presents a large armillary sphere at center, rendered in fine detail with meridian bands and a cross motif overlaying the globe, set upon a foliate base. The sphere is enclosed within a plain inner circle, itself surrounded by the circumferential legend PECUNIA.TOTUM.CIRCUMIT.ORBEM — 'Money goes around the whole world' — in raised Latin capitals along the outer rim. The field is otherwise plain, with the overall design characteristic of the Pombaline-era Portuguese copper coinage tradition.
