Reverse description The large denomination numeral '80' occupies the centre of the field, flanked on each side by a small cross or rosette ornament, with the date 1820 inscribed below in the exergue area, all enclosed within a beaded circular border. A royal crown surmounts the composition at the top, serving as the principal decorative element above the value numeral. The circular legend JOANNES.VI.D.G.PORT.BRAS.ET.ALG.REX. runs around the periphery, identifying the issuing monarch as João VI, King of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves by the Grace of God.
