Comments

Krems an der Donau was among the hundreds of Austrian municipalities that resorted to printing their own emergency fractional currency — Notgeld — in the chaotic years following the collapse of the Habsburg economy. The 80 Heller denomination is an odd value, typical of the scramble to cover very specific transactional gaps when small coinage had effectively vanished from circulation.

Tomaschik's involvement places this among the locally designed issues rather than the genre pieces commissioned from Vienna commercial artists. The JPR0474b suffix suggests at least one variant within the series — likely a color or paper difference — worth distinguishing carefully on acquisition.
