Attnang-Puchheim is a small Upper Austrian railway junction town — its importance as a switching point between the Salzkammergut line and the main west rail corridor made it more economically active than its size would suggest, which is likely why the municipality had the means and the need to issue notgeld at all. The 80 Heller denomination is an odd one, chosen to address specific small-transaction gaps rather than round-number convenience.
H. Hertzinger's design credit is locally sourced — Austrian municipal notgeld of this period frequently used regional artists or even amateur designers, and the results vary wildly in execution.
