Obverse description A large, finely rendered fleur-de-lis occupies the central field, the traditional heraldic emblem of Florence, rendered in high relief with elaborate scrollwork and foliate detail. The mint mark 'N' appears at the base of the fleur-de-lis. The surrounding legend reads the full Latin titulature of Grand Duke Leopold II, arranged clockwise around the periphery of the coin.

Reverse description The quartered arms of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany displayed on a shield at center, combining the Medici palle and Habsburg-Lorraine heraldic elements, surmounted by a jeweled grand ducal crown. The shield is supported by two crossed standards or lances draped with banners, with ornamental scrollwork at the base. The date 1827 and assay mark K24 appear in the exergue below the shield, while the Latin motto SVSCEPTOR NOSTER DEVS encircles the design.
