| Obverse description | Group portrait of the Spanish royal family rendered in high relief within a raised inner circle. King Juan Carlos I is depicted as the dominant effigy at upper centre, facing three-quarters left, flanked by Queen Sofía to his left; three royal children — the Infantas Elena and Cristina and the Prince of Asturias Felipe — are shown in the lower field, their overlapping busts conveying a sense of familial unity. The engraving, by Manuel Martinez Tornero, displays a refined sculptural quality with carefully articulated facial features and hair. The circumferential legend JUAN CARLOS I REY DE ESPAÑA arcs along the upper border, while the date 1990 appears in the lower field between two raised dots. |
