| Obverse description | Central device consisting of the crowned arms of Tournai — a roundel bearing three tower-like charges — set within a circular beaded border and flanked by palm or laurel branches extending symmetrically to either side. A crown with beaded base surmounts the shield. The denomination numeral '8' appears in the exergue below the central wreath, serving as the sole inscription on this face. The flan is irregular and roughly circular, consistent with hasty emergency issue production, with evidence of uneven striking across the copper surface. |
