| Reverse description | A large ornate crown occupies the upper central field, above the royal cypher D.M.A. (Dominus Mihi Adiutor — the king's personal motto, meaning 'The Lord is my helper'), which flanks and divides the denomination numeral '8 S'. The circular Latin legend along the rim bears the king's royal titles, with the date split across the lower portion of the coin on either side of a heart-shaped mintmaster's mark, serving as the Copenhagen Mint symbol. The overall composition is symmetrical and heraldic in character. |
