Obverse description Crowned royal cypher of Christian IV (C4) occupies the central field, flanked by the initials R, F, and P positioned at the sides and above the monogram, serving as an abbreviation for the Latin motto REGNA FIRMAT PIETAS. A clover-leaf mintmark denoting the Copenhagen Mint appears to the right of the monogram. The design is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Danish hammered coinage. The coin is bordered by a beaded inner circle.
