| Obverse description | The obverse retains the design of the Peruvian host coin, depicting a seated allegorical figure of Liberty facing right, holding a palm frond in her raised right hand and resting her left arm on a shield inscribed LIBER; a hole has been cut through the lower central field. Prominently applied at center is the Costa Rican Type I countermark: a radiant six-pointed star with a small floral rosette at its center, struck within a plain incuse circle of approximately 7 mm diameter. The circular legend FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNIÓN (Firm and Happy For the Union) runs along the outer border, interrupted by the central hole, with fine reeding visible on the coin's rim. |
