| Obverse description | Central field displays the quartered royal arms of Castile and León within a shield, showing the castles of Castile and the lions of León in alternate quarters, all surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is surrounded by a beaded inner border. The date 1652 appears to the left of the shield, and the mintmark 'CA' (Zaragoza) is visible to the right. The legend ARAGONUM · REX runs partially around the periphery, struck in the characteristically irregular style of hammered cob coinage. |

| Reverse description | Central field bears the crowned arms of Aragon, consisting of a shield charged with four vertical pale bars (the traditional gyronny of Aragon), surmounted by a royal crown. The denomination numeral '8' appears to the right of the shield, while the mintmark 'CA' for the Zaragoza mint is positioned to the left. The partial legend + PHILIPPVS · III · DEI G CA 8 surrounds the design, identifying the issuing monarch as Philip III. The flan is irregularly shaped and the strike is characteristic of hand-hammered macuquina (cob) production. |
