| Obverse description | The obverse of this macuquina (cob) coinage displays the quartered Royal Arms of Castile and León within a shield, divided by a bold cross into four quadrants bearing alternating castles and lions. The denomination numeral '8' appears prominently to the left of the shield, with the mint mark and assayer initial flanking the design in the field. A partial Latin legend surrounds the shield along the irregular flan edge, characteristic of the hand-struck cob technique employed at the Potosí mint during the reign of Philip V. |
