Obverse description Jerusalem cross occupying the central field, with the quarters bearing alternating castles and lions in the traditional Castile-León arrangement. The face value appears above the cross, the Potosí mintmark (P) to the left, and the assayer's initial (Y, for Diego de Ybarbourou) to the right. The date is struck below the cross. As is characteristic of macuquina coinage, the design is irregularly struck on a roughly shaped flan, with elements partially visible depending on the planchet.
