| Obverse description | The obverse of the host coin depicts the radiant Sun of May, composed of alternating straight and wavy rays emanating from a central disk, a design emblematic of the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata. At the center of the solar disk, the Philippine countermark has been applied, consisting of a crowned 'Y.II' cypher representing Queen Isabella II of Spain, struck within an incuse oval punch. The circumferential legend reads 'PROVINCIAS DEL RIO DE LA PLATA' around the periphery, with a small floral ornament serving as a field separator. The entire design exhibits rich iridescent toning consistent with aged silver. |
