Obverse description The obverse displays the host coin's central design of a ceiba tree within a raised inner circle, representing the coat of arms of the Central American Republic. Superimposed at center is the Spanish Philippine countermark, an incuse oval punch bearing a crowned castle — the castle being a symbol of the Spanish Crown — applied by Manila monetary authorities to validate the coin for local circulation. The peripheral legend reads LIBRE CRESCA FECUNDO (Grow Free and Fertile), with the mint and assayer designations NG M and fineness indicators 10 Ds 20 Gs arranged in the lower arc, all in Latin capital lettering within a reeded border.
