Reverse description The crowned Royal Arms of Spain displayed on a quartered shield at center, featuring castles of Castile and lions of León in the four quarters with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis escutcheon at the fess point. The shield is surmounted by a large ornate royal crown and flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each entwined with a banner bearing the motto PLUS VLTRA. The mint assayer initials Zs and RG, along with the denomination 8R, appear to the left of the shield, while the encircling Latin legend HISPAN·ET IND·REX· runs around the periphery.
