Reverse description The quartered arms of Spain surmounted by the royal crown occupy the central field, displaying castles and lions in the quarters with the Granada pomegranate in base and the Bourbon escutcheon en surtout at the center. The shield is flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each wound with a ribbon bearing the motto PLVS VLTRA. The mint mark, denomination, and assayer initials appear to the left, while the surrounding legend encircles the design within a toothed border.
