Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VII facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style, with the hair tied in a ribbon at the nape. The royal effigy occupies the central field, with the circumferential legend FERDIND • VII • DEI • GRATIA • reading from lower left to upper right. The date appears in the exergue at the base of the bust, flanked by pellets. The coin's milled border frames the design with a fine toothed rim.

Reverse description The quartered arms of Spain — displaying castles and lions with a central escutcheon bearing the fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty — are surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each wound with a scroll bearing the PLUS ULTRA motto. The circular legend reads • HISPAN • ET IND • REX • NG • 8R • M •, with the mint mark NG and assayer initial M flanking the denomination. A toothed border encloses the entire design.
