| Obverse description | The obverse depicts the standing figure of Liberty in full length, robed and helmeted, holding a staff surmounted by a liberty cap in her right hand and a tablet inscribed LIBER / TAD in her left. Two oval countermarks applied by Philippine colonial authorities are prominently struck upon the figure — a sunburst or castle countermark and a crowned F7 (Ferdinand VII) cypher — validating the coin for circulation in the Philippines. The peripheral legend FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION reads around the upper field, with LIBERTAD referenced on the tablet held by the figure. |
