Reverse description The reverse presents the early republican coat of arms of Peru set within an elaborate wreath of laurel and palm branches tied at the base. The quartered shield displays a vicuña in the upper left canton, a cinchona tree in the upper right, and a cornucopia in the lower half, all emblematic of Peru's natural wealth. The shield is surmounted by an open civic crown. The surrounding legend, interrupted by bullet separators, reads REPUB • PERUANA • with the mint mark LIMAE, denomination 8R, assayer initials J•M, and date 1827 distributed around the periphery within a toothed border.
