Obverse description Royal arms shield of the Spanish crown, surmounted by a large crown, displayed in the centre of the cob flan; the quartered escutcheon bears the castles of Castile and lions of León in alternating quarters, with the pomegranate of Granada in base. The mintmaster initial appears to the left of the shield and the denomination numeral to the right. Portions of the surrounding Latin legend are visible in the field, though the irregular flan causes much of the inscription to fall off the coin, as is typical of macuquina coinage.
