| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King Carlos IV facing right, rendered in the classical portrait style characteristic of late 18th-century Spanish colonial milled coinage. The effigy shows the king in profile with elaborately styled hair tied with a ribbon, wearing a ruffled cravat and armored drapery at the truncation. The date 1790 appears in the lower exergue flanked by two pellets. The circumferential legend reads CAROLUS IV DEI GRATIA, interrupted by the portrait, with bullet-point separators between elements. |
