Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Carlos IV facing right, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical portrait style of the period. The effigy features an armored truncation with flowing drapery at the shoulder. Encircling the bust is the royal legend separated by pellet stops, with the date 1790 positioned in the lower exergue flanked by pellet stops. A small incuse star-shaped countermark of the Sultanate of Sumenep (Madura) is applied to the right field, partially overlapping the legend area.
