Reverse description Central design features two crowned Pillars of Hercules, each wound with a scroll-form banner inscribed PLUS and VLTRA respectively, flanking two hemispheric globes surmounted by a large ornate royal crown, the whole resting upon stylized ocean waves. The mint mark No and assayer initials Ro appear at the lower left and lower right of the pillars respectively. The date 1770 is inscribed in the exergue below the waves, and the circular Latin legend VTRAQUE VNUM runs around the upper periphery of the coin, punctuated by rosette stops.
