| Reverse description | A ceremonial tripod rendered in profile occupies the central field, surmounted by a lebes (ritual cauldron or bowl). The regnal date and a royal monogram flank the tripod on either side. The encircling Greek legend ΗΡΩΔΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ, meaning 'of King Herod,' runs along the periphery of the flan. The composition reflects Hellenistic royal coinage conventions adopted by Herod the Great during his reign. |
