Obverse lettering CAROLVS·XII· D.G.REX.SVE.
(Translation: Karl XII, by the Grace of God, King of the Swedes.)
Reverse description Central crowned shield bearing the three crowns of Sweden, the arms disposed within an elaborate crowned escutcheon. The denomination and mintmaster's initials flank the shield within the inner field. The date appears within the circular peripheral legend, which runs along the outer border. A beaded or milled inner circle separates the central device from the surrounding inscription. The overall design reflects the formal heraldic style typical of Swedish coinage of the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
