Reverse description Quartered royal arms of Spain surmounted by a royal crown occupy the central field, displaying castles (Castile) and lions (León) in the four quarters. The date 1662 appears at the top of the legend, flanked by the mint mark and assayer initial; the denomination numeral 8 is visible to the right. The outer legend reads HISPANIARVM REX, separated by pellets, all within a beaded dentilated border. The shield and crown are boldly rendered in the roller-milled technique characteristic of the Madrid and Segovia mints of this period.
