Obverse description Crowned rectangular coat of arms of the Republic of Genoa, flanked by two rampant griffins serving as heraldic supporters. The entire armorial composition rests upon a decorative base featuring a lion's head at center below. The surrounding legend, rendered in Latin, encircles the shield and reads DUX ET GUB REIP GENU, identifying the governing authority of the Genoese Republic.

Reverse description Standing figure of Saint John the Baptist, patron saint of Genoa, depicted in three-quarter view raising his right hand in a gesture of blessing while his left hand supports a long cross staff from which a banner inscribed ECCE AGNUS DEI hangs. The date 1796 appears within the field alongside the primary legend NON SURREXIT MAIOR, a biblical reference to the greatness of the saint. The composition is rendered in a refined baroque engraving style characteristic of late Genoese coinage.
