| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription naming the Ottoman Sultan, reading 'Al-Sultan Al-Ghazi Abdulhamid Khan', arranged in three lines within a wreath of olive or laurel branches tied at the base. The wreath frames the entire inscription, with foliate sprays extending symmetrically to either side. The overall design follows the traditional Ottoman tughra-inspired calligraphic layout typical of late 19th-century Tunisian coinage struck under Ottoman suzerainty. |
