Obverse description Central device depicts five volcanic mountain peaks rising from the sea, surmounted by a radiant sun emitting long straight rays that fill the upper field, representing the five states of the Central American federation. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL CENTRO DE AMERICA arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 1833 appears in the lower field between two dots.
